You can help make the Whitecaps Waterfront Stadium a reality! In the coming weeks and months, Vancouver City Council will be holding crucial votes that will either drive the Vancouver Whitecaps Waterfront Stadium project forward, or further delay it for years to come. Despite overwhelming support for the stadium among the public, Vancouver City Council is being besieged by a small group of  anti-stadium activists who are experienced in politics and well-trained in using the media. They want all major development in the downtown core halted, and they're using the stadium project as an outlet to advance their narrow agenda. But you can take action! This is the time to let the Mayor and City Council know beyond a doubt that the people of British Columbia want this stadium built. Please take a moment to express your support for the Whitecaps Waterfront Stadium by writing to the Mayor & City Council today! (choose the points that reflect your views, and expand upon them when possible) We need an outdoor facility to promote sports, recreation and culture in our city. The location is convenient to public transit. The industrialized waterfront will once again be accessible to the general public. It’s a creative use of scarce land. It will revitalize Gastown – part of our city that has been in transition for many years. There are a number of additional uses: symphony, festivals, community events, children’s events, concerts that can occur here. The level of soccer play will improve as the Whitecaps bring a stronger commitment to the sport through this facility and continue to work closely with other sport associations to become the best they can be.
